Welcome to a new week! Today, two cards leapt out of the deck so you’re getting more of a message than usual for the week.

Two of Swords and Five of Cups

Two of Swords Keywords: Choices, Clarity, Balance. This is an Air card, which has to do with mind, ideas, intellect. Two is the number is duality and balance.

Five of Cups Keywords: Loss, Grief, Remorse. This is a water card, which has to do with emotional life, love, heart, and feelings. Five is the number is contract, discomfort and points of growth.

Reading

Do you feel conflicted between your head and your heart? You’re experiencing some grief (aren’t we all right now?) and it’s hard to see your blessings because there have been multiple losses. Maybe you’re trying to ignore this pain by using cold, hard logic. It’s feels like you have to choose between being a feeling person and a thinking person. It’s easier to be a thinker because feeling feels so damned hard right now.

Perhaps you feel like you have to choose between writing the story of your heart and the story that will sell. You’re stuck and it’s hard to see the right path forward.

The solution is to get really still and cut out all of the distractions. Quiet meditation will bring clarity. You don’t have to choose. Rather, you need try to find balance between your thoughts and emotions. Focus on being present this week. Instead of having your whole self in the air (mind) or in the water (heart), try to keep your feet on the earth so you’ll feel more grounded.

Assignment: Spend a few minutes meditating before you sit down to write. Even a few moments of mindful breathing can offer enormous benefits. Be still for a little while and see if there’s a road that allows you to combine your intellect and your heart.
