Yes, I know. Woo Wednesday is a day late. Yesterday I took my dog to chemo and volunteered at the food pantry, so I think that earns me a little grace. But enough of the excuses—let’s get to the good stuff.
As usual, I’m not getting paid to promote any of these things, but I do use affiliate links for any Amazon stuff.
Woo Notebooks

I may have found my new favorite notebook for bullet-journaling and writing. With a flexible faux leather cover and adorable pattered paper edges, these notebooks are both good looking and extremely user friendly. The paper is smooth, but I haven’t tried to use a fountain pen or marker on it yet. I’m saving this beauty for a writing retreat I’m doing in April—if I can hold off that long. It’s just begging for some ink.
I found the Zen Art notebook on Amazon, but they’re on sale at the Zen Art site right now for about a dollar cheaper.
Woo Learning
I love audiobooks. I listen to them on the treadmill and while running errands. I also commonly opt to drive instead of fly to any place I can get to in less than eight hours so that I can knock out a book. I have an Audible subscription, which gets me two books a month. The credits bank so that you can rack up several before you lose them, too.
I also love classes. I regularly have to talk myself out of going back to school to get more degrees for the fun of it. Luckily, Audible has The Great Courses. These are basically like taking a college course without the exams. Each “chapter” is a lecture in the series, and many of the courses offer PDFs of additional information and exercises. You can learn about everything from history and mythology to accounting to physiology or philosophy. Right now I’m listening to a class called The Creative Thinker’s Toolkit.
If you’re a fellow lifelong learner, definitely check them out.
Woo Horror
Did you know that February is Women in Horror Month? Did you know that I am a woman? Did you know I write horror?

High Lonesome Sound is my southern gothic novel about a small Appalachian town with a bit of a demon problem. Buy it here.
The Uncanny Collection is a short story collection with stories about haunted colleges, psychopomps in New Orleans, and evil carnies. Buy it here for less than a buck.
Meridian Six is the first novella in a series about a dystopian world where fascist vampires have enslaved the human race. There’s an underground library and bat robots. Buy it here for less than a buck.
Woo You
Thanks to everyone who’s already subscribed to Wells Writing Workshop! In the coming weeks, I’ll be talking about plotting and pantsing (or as Vonnegut called them “bangers and swoopers”), the importance of writing rituals, and other fun writerly stuff. If you’re currently receiving the free version of the newsletter, consider upgrading to a subscription so you don’t miss out on any of my posts or the discussions. Early adopters get 20% off a subscription for life, y’all.
My woo this week is Great Courses on Ah Audible, too! I just finished Analysis and Critique: How to Engage and Write About Anything. I’ll repeat some of the chapters so I can do the exercises as they were more involved than I could do at the time, but thoroughly enjoyed it and love that they provide to class companion book right there in the chapters menu in the app.
I just ran out to grab those lovely notebooks! In fact, AZ must have found out about the sale on the regular site because they were offering a discount coupon for the same percentage off. :)
