Hello, friends! It’s day eleventy-five of social distancing. If, like me, you’re desperate for anything to keep you occupied so you don’t watch the news or ponder the implications of this period on our futures, then I have some suggestions for you.
Netflix and Woo
I’d never really watched Community in the Before Times. Maybe I’d caught an episode here or there, but I didn’t pay much attention to it. It’s silly, really, because the cast is great: Ken Jeong, Chevy Chase, Donald Glover, Joel McHale, Alison Brie, John Oliver, etc, etc. But the other night, we were looking for something new to start and it popped up. You guys, it’s so funny. The best part, it’s six seasons and each one has 25ish episodes. I’m all for anything that makes me laugh right now. It’s on Netflix.
Woo Tarot
Last Saturday was my 45th birthday. To celebrate, my husband and son took me out for a ride like Miss Daisy. What else you gonna do on your birthday during a pandemic? Anyway, one of my gifts was Modern Witchcraft Book of Tarot by Skye Alexander.

I like it because it’s organized in a way that allows you to easily look up card meanings. Even though I’ve been dabbling in tarot for a while, I’m still not as far long as I’d like to be on knowing all the traditional card meanings. When I write my Tarot posts on Friday I look through like five books to make sure I have a good understanding of all the possible meanings (selfishly, the posts are great practice for me). I’m happy to add this to my stack of tarot reference.
You can buy it here. (Note: Link goes to Bookshop—part of each sale goes to support indie bookstores)
Woo New Web Site
I spent most of last week redesigning my web site. I used Wix.com and it was actually sort of fun. I’m not a tech person but I am married to one, and I didn’t need his help until it came to end with getting all my various URLs redirected and stuff. The Wix interface is really intuitive and user-friendly.
Also, it’s nice to give the old online presence a facelift. I was able to add more organized sections for the writing coach part of my business, for example. I’m getting ready to launch some new courses online and this will make it easier.
Speaking of, did you know that if you’re a paid subscriber of Wells Writing Workshop, you’ll automatically get discounts on my online classes* and private coaching?
Woo Classes
Speaking of classes, I have two upcoming virtual seminars through Writing Workshops Dallas.

April 30: Fighting Demons: Internal vs. External Conflict—explains the distinctions between internal and external conflicts, as well as the importance of combining the two to create riveting fiction. Participants will come away with a better understanding of how to build and sustain tension in their work. 90 mins via Zoom. Sign up here.
So now it’s your turn, what’s woo with you this week?
*Note: Discount only applies to classes I personally host and offer, those through Writing Workshops Dallas aren’t eligible.
Happy birthday!
I'm really stuck on my current scene, thinking about stepping away for a minute. Sometimes doing a short side story or project shakes things up for me
