Hi friends. Today I’m taking a break from the Promises and Payoffs in Fiction series to discuss some creativity thoughts I’ve been having. We’ll return to the book next week.

Today’s topic is being open and making honey.

I was talking with a friend today. She’s a writer, too, and we’ve been supporting each other through a lot of life and work stuff. Our conversations always make me think deeply about process and craft, and today’s chat was no different.

We were discussing the idea that the more in flow we are the better things seems to work out in our lives. That when we were both younger we approached life as something to force into submission. But as we’ve aged we’ve realized that the more we try to force things the worse they seem to go. Yes we’d accomplish stuff, but we’d feel emptier in the victories. There was always something bigger to chase.

Now, we both focus on the importance of being present and allowing.
