Friday Tarot Prompt

We’ve survived another week, and it’s time for a little inspiration.

This week, I used my Art of Life deck by Charlene Livingstone. Today’s card is The Star.

In the Art of Life deck, this card is represented by Van Gogh’s famous The Starry Night. The quote associated with this image in the deck is:

“If thou follow they star, thou canst not fail of a glorious heaven.” -Dante Alighieri

Major Themes: Promise, optimism, faith, meditation, inspiration, freedom.

For Your Stories:

The Star follows The Tower in the Major Arcana. It’s a card of having survived an ordeal that shook foundations and left behind only what was essential. This is the card of a character who’s seen the dark moment and lived through it. They might have suffered a great loss, but it also clarified something fundamental. They can now move ahead stripped of their limiting beliefs. They have all of the tools they need to succeed, they just have to have the courage to use them.

Story Idea: Write a scene in which your protagonist seems to have lost everything but something unexpected inspires them to have hope.

Questions to ask your character: What gives you purpose? What fresh perspective can you bring to your conflicts? What wild dream have you not been allowing yourself to hope for?

For your own journey:

What inspires you right now? What recognition have you received recently for your efforts? Celebrate them!

If you had to use three words to describe the values of your inner star, what would they be? Are you honoring these ideals in your work?

Are limiting beliefs holding you back? Make a list and then burn it (be smart and safe with this, please).

Now is a good time to get clear on your dreams. What do you really want out of this creative journey?

Tips:

-Ask yourself: Is your daydream still working for you? Does it reflect what you really want or what you think you should want? Has that still inner voice of yours been trying to tell you something?

-Create a vision board or spend some time visualizing yourself in the place you hope to reach.

-Pick a theme song for this future and listen to it every day as you sit down to do your creative work.
