Man, I tell you, my decks have been on fire lately. Today’s card is The Moon. It’s pretty awesome to get this card today because there’s a full moon in Sagittarius right now. Even more, there’s a partial lunar eclipse. This is big moon energy, y’all.
What does that mean?
The Moon Key Words: Intuition, Imagination, Subconscious, Instinct, Facing Fears, Confusion.
I pulled from my Modern Witch Deck today. The image of The Moon it shows is a little different than in most traditional decks, which is one of the reasons I like it so much.

So first we have two ladies wilding under the moon. They’re wearing animal masks and tapping into their instinctive natures. They’re naked and vulnerable but also free. Behind them, a dark figure rises from the water. Water is a symbol of the subconscious and the figure represents deep-seated fears.
Meaning for Your Writing:
Imagination is the bedrock of writing stories. Without the ability to imagine something, we can’t write about people and places that don’t actually exist. We can’t imagine behaviors and habits playing out differently than expected.
Also? Change can’t happen without imagination. We have to be able to see things in a new way and imagine new approaches to old problems. Pretty timely stuff, right?
Allow yourself to imagine today. Let your muse play. See what new ideas or solutions rise up from the water.
One more thing, I can’t ignore the connection between the moon and fear. In a lot of ways, writing is the work of facing fears. We write about what we worry might happen, or something bad that did happen that still makes us scared. We write about people and ideas that scare us. We get vulnerable by putting ourselves into our work, and that’s scary as hell.
This card is asking you to sit with your fears today. Invite them to tea and get to know them. What are they here to teach you?
For Your Creative Journey:
This is not the energy of schedules and routines. It’s not the face you put on publicly that everything’s just fine thankyouverymuch. This is the energy of real emotion, inner work, vulnerability, freedom.
The full moon is a great time to incorporate some ritual into your life. Here are some ideas:
Create a list of power words—adjectives or ideas or archetypes you want to bring forth in yourself. Hang is somewhere that you can see it when you sit down to do your creative work.
On a piece of paper, write down a fear you’re ready to release. In your kitchen sink, set the paper on fire using a match or lighter. Once it has burned down to ash, say “I surrender [say fear]” and wash the ashes down the drain.
Clean off your writing/creative space. Full moons are a good time for clearing away clutter. Give your workspace a fresh start by getting things organized to make room for new inspiration.
Like the two figures in today’s tarot card, get outside and dance under the full moon. Nudity is optional, but be sure you’re not going to shock your neighbors.
We’re living in wild times. Today is a good day to get quiet with yourself and figure out what inner work you need to do to evolve. Stay safe!
Just want I needed to read today!! Thank you.
